Simone Dumas
By training, I’m a geoscientist and, more specifically, a physical sedimentologist. However, first and foremost, I’m a scientist. As such, I’m motivated and driven by my curiosity in finding answers to questions aimed at understanding how our natural world fonctions. My current position as a teaching-focused Faculty in the Department of Earth and environmental sciences at the university of Ottawa is giving me the opportunity to bring my science training in the classroom. Within this perspective, I make use of the scientific method to assess and understand the effects of my teaching practices on how, and what my students learn. My findings then guide me towards my goal of evolving and becoming a better, and more efficient educator.
